First period brown... Please answer women
Ok so I am twelve and I THINK I just got my first period. I told my mom the morning with a bit of a dramatic bit of crying till she reasured me that periods are okay. The only thing I told her was that I had my first period... But here's my problem... I really started with severe cramps in PE about 5 days before I got this sticky brown discharge. I noticed it in my undies when I took a bath... It was dark brown with pink runs that I assume are from when this stuff dryed. Though there was a little bit of the brown discharge the day before I just assumed I needed to take a bath. Anyway... Another thing that made me think that this is my real period is because my mum is having her's at the same time and she said she had a feeling I was going to have my period soon because 2 weeks ago I started craving chocolate and having mood swings... But I though that my Period was going to be red :( I have had noticeable amounts of the discharge for about two days and it kind of stopped after I took my daily bath today... Just to be safe I am going to put a pad on tonight... But is this really my period or something else? Thanks for the answer ^_^ really need some guidance and all the men in my family are around every corner so I can't really talk to my mom :(

I remember my first period. It was brown too, very brown indeed. I was super scared, as I like you expected it to be red.

I think its your first periods, no need to worry, these things take time to stabilize into a cycle(mine took over a year to get a fixed cycle). If you cannot talk it out to your mum, you can talk to a friend who's already begun her menstruation.

First periods are normal, men know about them if they have any concern over their wives. But sorry, saying men are always around is not an excuse, ask your mom, show her the discharge if you are concerned, that is what daughters and moms talk about.

But yes it sounds just like your period. Let mom know about the cramps, some women have worst than others, some times it is very bad, other times not so bad.

I have kind of gotten over the man thing... Since I remember that I told my mOm that I just got my period in front of my BROTHER'S room... And the cramps... Know. Am going to have them because of this hereditory (think I spelled that right) condition... Something with scar tissue but with my memory I cannot think of the name. There is really nothing I can do because it runs in the family :S my mom says I am lucky that I have not had anymore of them yet.

Oh and sorry for the bad spelling... I have to type on my iPod because of limited computers in the house.
