AMHD protest of SOPA and PIPA
Well done AMHD... you are on the right side of this issue.

S 968 and it's House version H.R. 3261 are disguised as a measure to stop online piracy. But there are already plenty of laws on the books to protect copyrighted material on the Internet. This is an Internet takeover bill, pure and simple for the purpose of censorship .

U.S. online piracy bill headed for major makeover | Reuters

The pressure appears to be having an affect

“The Internet is one of the most magnificent expressions of freedom and free enterprise in history,” ...“It should stay that way....

“While H.R. 3261, the Stop Online Piracy Act, attempts to address a legitimate problem, I believe it creates the precedent and possibility for undue regulation, censorship and legal abuse.”
    Rep. Paul Ryan .

The thing that truly gripes me the most is that when the internet was invented it was never intended to be used as it is today. Now that so many are making money off the system others are pushing hard for more control.

    It's a sad day indeed.

You mean exchanging data between interconnected computers? That's all the internet has ever been and still is today.

It was a much broader idea then that. It was meant for the freeflow of information without being stifled by corporate interests. The first blow was when they removed AT&T as a major pipeline for the internet. They were doing a great job. Then in later years the internet became more and more commercial. Now with pipa and the forthcoming SOPA (which has to be voted on) it can destroy the freedoms that the internet enjoyed.
