1990 dodge dakota, will not start, no fire to coil

. Remove and fully charge the battery. Most auto parts stores will do this for free.

. Check all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.

. Check for codes.

. Check ignition relay.

. Focus on the coil and distributor (pick-up coil), if the CEL comes on and goes off normally, when the ignition switch is turned to ON. Replace these components, based upon your findings.

. Check the ignition switch for wear or pitting, if the problem persists.
