My stylist quit and I went to a new one to touch up my blonde highlights (that I've been getting 20 years) over dark brown hair. She suggested a few lowlights on the ends. I agreed because I have had this done about once a year; it has always been subtle and helped the ends of my hair from being all white. I left the salon a brunette, with just a few yellow highlights. My hair color is way too dark for me. She said it was semipermanent and would wash out, but I've washed it 3 times, no change. I hate it, need to get this very dark hair off me, I look terrible. Will using clarifying, baby shampoo, dish liquid uncover my highlights, but in the process turn my blonde hair underneath a strange color?

You need to go back to the stylist and have her fix it. It is not uncommon for a stylist to not know how, so if that is the case she needs to get another professional to fix it for you. Often people confuse semi-permanent and demi-permanent. Semi washes out much quicker, but demi has permanent hair color molecules and lasts longer. Either way using clarifying, or dishwashing liquid is not a good idea. The yellow can be toned very easily. If the overall color is too dark then you can have them re-highlight the hair and tone it if the color turns out undesirable. Sometimes it takes a new stylist a few times of doing your hair to get it right. There are often miscommunications between client and stylist. They work on a technical level. Red to you may not be red to them or any other color for that matter. Always bring a picture of what you want. The bottom line is if it is messed up or not the way you want it, any good stylist will fix it for you at no charge to make you happy and have a repeat customer. Whatever you do, don't take matters into your own hands because chances are you will make it worse. Good luck!
