My plumber installed the diverter with the up side down, now shower runs when I just want to fill the tub, is there any other quick fix other than opening up wall and re-doing

If you are sure the install is worng then call the plumber back to fix his error. I can't picture your description or that a licenced plumber would make such an error but there is aways a first
