Movie from 90's about children in the Sahara running from poachers?
    Hi,

I have been trying to find the title to this movie FOREVER. I used to watch it when I was much younger, and can't remember what it's called. It's about a family that lives in Africa, when the parents are killed by elephant poachers. The children are forced to flee, and the only direction they can go is directly into the Sahara. There's one scene where they are with a Native, and he teaches them how to find water by finding a plant, digging a hole, and then sucking up the sand through a hollow tube until water comes out. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks!

The movie you are looking for is "A Far Off Place" from 1993, with Reese Witherspoon and Ethan Embry. "The witty Nonni and the stuck-up city-boy Harry are the only ones to survive a massacre of a gang of poachers among the gamekeeper's family on his lonesome farm in the savanna. Now the ruthless murderers are after them as the only witnesses. Without a means of transportation, the only way to escape is to walk through 2000 kilometers of Kalahari desert with the help of the African bushman Xhabbo. On the months-long journey ahead they not only become good friends against their differences, but also realize that every one of them has strength and skills that are required to survive."
