    My 1993 2-door Honda won't start
The engine will turn over, but will not start. I checked the spark plugs and they are each getting a strong spark. I sprayed ether in the airstream, thinking the electronic fuel injectors or the fuel pump were not working. I'm going to try again tomorrow, but the ether did not work earlier. Any ideas?

If the CEL comes on for 2 seconds and then goes out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II), then replacing the Ignition Control Module (ICM) often solves the problem. You may have spark but it is not firing when the ECM wants it to. Therefore, the timing is affected.

Thank you for the response! Do you know if this is the correct part?

The reason I ask is because I have an EX with the larger D16Z6 engine and I am not sure if the ICM is the same as the one on the smaller engines.

If the ICM is the problem, can the timing be off so much that it won't fire or backfire at all? I figured if its getting a spark, something should be igniting. Anyway, the CEL did come on for 2 seconds and then go off as you said.

Yes, the ICM affects the dwell, hence timing, in a big way. I've seen plenty of Hondas that will spark, but will not start, where replacing the ICM solved the problem.

Check for the correct part no. at Advance Auto Parts.com. I like BWD ICMs, coils, rotors, distributor caps, and sensors, which come with a lifetime warranty.
