Can I crate two very small 6 month female Chihuahua sisters together ?
I have two very small 6 month old female Chihuahua sisters who have been together since birth. I've been having trouble house breaking the larger one. The smaller female has been great about using potty pads. The girls are very close, sleep cuddled up together and play well together. They go to their crate when I am busy and they can't be on my chest or lap. I am wondering if they should be in separate crates or if keeping them in one a little larger is good for them. As I said, they are very close. I don't know if the smallest one would have survived if not for her larger sister. They are very affectionate and love the attention they get from me. They love to nap on my chest together. The smallest is more laid back and uses the potty pads. I live in Minnesota and it's much too cold here to have them outside. The older female has been difficult to potty train. It's extremely frustrating. Can any one help me with this problem ? Should I crate them separately ? Thank you for any help you can give me !

Crating together shouldn't cause any problems between them, if the crate is big enough for both. Also being separated may be physically and emotionally upsetting to both dogs.
One thought... you may wind up with two dogs that are not crate trained as the bigger dog will probably continue to soil the crate and the smaller one simply give up trying to 'stay clean'.
