My girlfriend and I have been living together for the past two years,and I have supported her and her son since then.. can I claim him for eic purposes on my taxes,his mother has filled out a 8332 form allowing me as a non-custodial parent to claim him. Does this help or what

The form 8332 is given to the non-custodial parent by the custodial parent allowing the non-custodial parent to claim the dependency exemption. Since you are not a parent of this child, this form does not apply to you.
You cannot claim this child as a dependent child.
You might be able to claim it as a dependent relative. In order to do so the child cannot be the qualifying child of either parent. You must have provided more than half his/her support, the child cannot have earned more than $3700 and the child must have lived with you the entire year. A qualifying relative does not make you eligible for the EIC.

A dependent can be your qualifying child or qualifying relative.

And to add one more bit of information, in case you're wondering - if you do claim the child (or your GF) as your dependent you must still file as "single," and not as "Head of Household." The reason is that to file as HoH you must have a qualifying relative living with you, and neither your GF or her child are your relatives.
