Machine was knocking and clothes still wet after spin?
    I have a Maytag washer Model # MAV8551AWW S# 25117437GN

It was doing this The washer fills and agitates as it is agitates it was making a knocking sound. The clothes were wet at the end of the spin cycle. There was no water in the tub, clothes were wet like the machine did not spin fast enough. One time the fabric softener didn't even dispense.

Just checked it. The machine fills fine, runs fine with no knocking. When it starts to drain, it agitates and spins. Took 80 seconds to empty. It didn't seem to spin fast.

    Suggestions?

Overloading, too heavy for washer, you have to stop fhe machine when you hear knocking then redistribute or take out heavy items and start again.

This is a common sense answer.

How long have you been using a washing machine?

    Machine is not overloaded.

When it starts to drain, it is agitating and spinning.
    Shouldn't it drain then spin?
I wouldn't think it should keep agitating while draining?

Can anyone help with this problem.

The machine was empty when I tested it.

Our son was home on leave, he had it jamed pack full when he did a load.
    Is it the tranmission?

My husband says it sounds like a problem with the timer. He strongly suggests you call a repairman who knows washing machines.

My husband also mentioned there there are washing machine repair blogs, so you could Google your question and look for an answer that way. But a part (a timer?) may still have to be purchased and replaced by someone.

Were you able to get this fixed? My washer is doing the same thing. I replaced the main pulley and cam and the cloths came out drier but I still have that clunking noise

I should have said knocking noise in the beginning stages of the wash cycle. When it is spinning or rinsing the noise seems to go away.
