Speaker on computer makes an intermittent popping noise
Bought a new house and replaced the old outlets with new. I have 2 piggy backed surge protectors hooked up with all my computer, monitor speakers, printer, etc hooked up to one outlet/plug. It has made a popping noise through the speakers since we set it up. It happens periodically through out the day. I just hooked up my shredder on an additional surge protector connected to the other plug in the same outlet. When the shredder turns on the speakers make a loud crackling noise. It stops when I turn it off. Any ideas?

Sounds like electrical noise. Anything with a motor will introduce noise to the line. If you use a different outlet or a power conditioner you should improve this. It's always a good idea to have some kind of power conditioning on expensive equipment, especially in apartment buildings and in the country.

The occasional popping could be caused by the same problem (electrical noise). It could also be a bad connection, so check the connection to the PC also.
