Federal tax deducted is 12567.69 and state with held 4624.15(NC - 2864 WI - 1760.15)

I assume that the $75,930 is ALL taxable income. It may NOT be, as per diem on a temporary job CAN be non-taxable if certain criteria are met.

If so, after deducting your personal exemption of $3,700 and the standard deduction of $5,800, your taxable income is $66,436.

That generates a tax of $12,731.

Which means you will OWE $163 when you file your return.

Thanks a lot. My employer is not paying any per diem. He is paying me the salary as other income which I think is taxable. I did pay a tution fee of 900 for the year. Also had some moving expenses and that's about it.

The moving expenses MAY be deductible, but the tuition is NOT, since non-resident aliens are NOT eligible for education credits or deductions.

If your employer has sent you to a different location on a temporary assignment, you may be able to deduct travel expenses (include transportation, lodging and meals). Use Form 2106 or 2106-EZ to figure your allowable expenses that you claim on line 9 of Schedule A (Form 1040NR). Your U.S. Tax Return: Itemized Deductions
