Without knowing WHICH State it's impossible to know.
Is that your total income for the year?
In addition to your state we would also need to know such things as how many allowances you claimed on your W4, whether you are paid weekly, bi-weekly, tice/month, or monthly, and the actual amount of state income on each paycheck. Obviously this is not something that is easy to reconstruct. That's why your employer must give you a W2 form. If you have not yet received your W2 I would strongly suggest that you NOT try to complete your tax return until you receive it from your employer - don't guess at what it might say. However, for a good estimate - see what amount was shown as year-to-date state tax paid on your last pay statement of December.
