My Girlfriend said she loved me for the wrong reason and I'm still confused
My girlfriend and I were going out for about a year. I left for college, and a couple weeks before I headed home from school she calls me and tells me that she just doesn't feel the same about me anymore. She tried to break it off then but "didn't have the heart" so when I came home she broke up with me. Saying that she didn't feel the same about me as when I left, that she didn't love me but really really adored me. And that she had feeling for another guy but knew it wouldn't work out.

She did it nicely, saying that we could still be good friends and that we could still hang. But the month went on, we barely talked because she needed space. We hung out once and when I tried to get closure from the relationship before I left, she said she needed space and that it would be best if we weren't friends and didn't talk for awhile, she said we could be friends in the future and that the reason why she's seemed hurt from the break up is because she hates seeing me so depressed.

I just don't know what's going on anymore any ideas?

Sounds like she's found someone else and is ready to try him out... but doesn't want to be so blunt about it. She wants you to stay her friend for 2 reasons probably. 1) To alleviate her guilt from breaking it off with you. 2) to keep you hanging on in case the guy she dumped you for doesn't work out and she can always come back to you.

Either way, it's really a bad situation that you are better off not even being a part of. Sure, losing her is depressing, but you will get over it. If you hang around and wait for her, you will be in for an emotional roller coaster which will make your life and dealing with losing her considerably harder.

Best thing for you to do is close that door and walk away. Start doing your own thing and don't worry about her. Don't talk to her or even try to contact her. Consider it as over and move on. Eventually you will find someone else and you will forget about her completely.

    Good luck.

You broke up, tried to stay friends, it didn't work.

Now let acceptance that its over be your closure and start rebuilding your new life without her being a part of it. That's what you do.

    Start with leaving her alone.

Maybe it is best to move on. Break-ups suck, but if you give it time things will hopefully work out for the best. Long distance realtionships are hard to keep up, and maybe it just took a toll on her. Just try to move and keep your head held high. Goodluck!
