Is it possible to obtain an EKG for my son who plays football?
Hi Everyone, I am trying to find out if I can get an ECG done on my 11 year old son. Now please don't think I am mad, but i have heard of quite a few boys around his age just collapsing after or during a football match. As my son is football mad used an inhaler occasionally, I am worried. My partner thinks I am just panicking but if I can find out IF there is anything underlying, at least I will know and get it sorted out.

    Many thanx

Thankfully, there is more and more attention being given to the pressures young children play under with high contact sports. Aside from requesting an Electrocardiogram from your Doctor, I think your best bet would be to get together with parents and start something like these parents have:

Students in Illinois getting free EKG testing at school - Racine family who lost son wants to bring the program to Wisconsin

Good luck, and your son is lucky to have parents that care so much. Thank you for asking on our site.
