I have a 2nd floor shower with a compression style drain. In cleaning the drain recently I noticed the pipe seems to move. Or more specifically, there is a white piece of something that looks to be attached to the black piping. It is the white part that moves. I cannot tell yet if the black pipe moves with it or not. In investigating I found it can move down about 1/4" and then side-to-side the same amt. It does slip back into place, but my concerns are 1) is whatever this is supposed to move like that such that I can still use my shower in peace, or 2) if it is not supposed to do this, can it be fixed without cutting in from the ceiling below?

P.S. I cannot tell yet if it also slips out of the compression gasket or not. I'm afraid to remove the compression nut to find out...

If this is the drain itself ,that needs to be fixed cause it will cause water to rn down it and leak through the ceiling. It might just be the bracket
