I'm searching for a movie that begins with a large wooden chest. The scene then changes to a bridge in the night. It is foggy, and a man, in what appears to be Victorian style clothing, throws what appears to be the chest or something into the river...

I know this is a vague description, but can anyone help identify this movie? I only briefly saw this beginning and was unable to see the rest. It has been bugging me for ages that I cannot identify or find this movie. Any help would be great!

The first movie that came to mind was Jumanji - but I'm having a hard time finding a clip of the very beginning...

The movie beginning I saw is definitely a murder/mystery/thriller and is set in the late 1800/ early 1900's. It had quite a macabre feel to it.
