    My newbie plumbing question
I have to change the washers in the taps of my bathtub. This isn't a new house so I can't turn off the water supply right at the tub,I have to turn off the water entry to the house. Here's my silly question: I know I have to let the water run out to release the pressure on the cold water tap but what about the hot water tap? Won't the water heater keep up the pressure?

    Hey Karma,
"Won't the water heater keep up the pressure?"

No, the water pressure on both hot and cold's determined by the source, either city water or a pump. Once you close the house shut off just open up a hot and a cold faucet to relieve the pressure and that's all there is to it.
    Good luck, Tom

Thanks Tom! I'm not much of a handyman but I wanted to give this job a shot.

    Cheers,
