    Is Miralax safe during pregnancy?
Prior to becoming pregnant, I had issues with cronic constipation. I eat very healthy and exercise regularly. My gastro doctor said to take Miralax daily, and it has worked wonders for me! I call it the miracle drug. Since I have become pregnant, though, I have not been using it because I am not sure if it is safe. I have been horribly constipated ever since. Can I continue to use it? Maybe only a couple times per week? If not, are there any other safe medications I can take?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi rigli... welcome to AMHD,

Have you spoken to your OB or midwife about it? That would be the first step if you haven't already. They may or may not prefer you use something else.

Many doctors are fine with prescribing Miralax for pregnant women. It is one of those medications that has not had substantial studies done for use in pregnancy, but it is not thought to be of a concern due to how your body processes it.

Products such as Metamucil and Milk of Magnesia have had studies done and are considered safe choices in pregnancy.

As with any medication, use as little as necessary.

Do give your doctor or midwife a call and they can let you know their thoughts on using the Miralax.
