Natural Gas "Like" Smell in Bedroom
We have discovered an odd smell in one of our bedrooms (soon to be a nursery).
    - It is "gas like" - at first whiff it smells like gas but doesn't set off any meters used by gas company.
    - Seems to be from heating duct in floor. Furnace serviced this week and is OK.
    - Only shows when furnace is not blowing heat - assume smell is dissipated when air is being forced out through ducts.
    - Closed the duct at furnace and smell continues when furnace is not heating. It goes away when furnace is firing.
    - Had gas company in yesterday to make sure it isn't a gas leak. Pressure test OK. Sniff test OK. Soap test OK.
    - Room is at the front of house - 20 feet (across) and two floors up away from gas line. About 30 feet aways from sewer stack (at rear of house).

Any thoughts on what it might be? Relieved that it isn't gas leak but frustrated that we now don't know what it is.

Next step is to get duct cleaned, but low expectations as previous owners had this done two years ago (we have owned for 1 year).

    Thanks!
    Steve

Hi, we are having a similar issue at our house. Have you figured out what it was?

    Thanks!

Are you fairly certain it is not sewer gas?
