Consequences of a judgement in Texas?
My son has been ordered to appear regarding an unpaid hospital bill. He tried to work out payments but was told her needed to pay in full. He has a seizure disorder (reason for the hospital stay) and can only work part time. While In the hospital I asked the financial aid dept if they could offer any assistance to which they replied "no - too bad he's not a minority" If the judge rules in favor of the hospital - can they charge interest and keep adding to this bill? Do we go to court or is it all for naught. He can't pay a %5,000.00 bill when he brings home $200. Per week and buys his own seizure medications. He now has health insurance which helps but due to stress bringing on seizures - he still can't work full time. He's just now driving again after 2 years of being unable to do so due to the frequent seizures.

I'm sorry, but his inability to pay does not excuse him from the bill. They will likely get a judgment, and can attach his wages. His SSDI cannot be garnished, but his income can be. Additionally, if he has any money in a bank account that he cannot prove came from SSDI, they can take that as well.
