    Questions relating to collitis dogs?
My sisters Dogue De Bordeaux (17 weeks) has been diagnosed with collitis. She is on prescription food but I have just noticed my brother in law feeding her frankfurters as a treat. Surely this is the wrong thing to do if she is on a special diet. Is this acceptable?

That will set this poor dog back a bit. I guess the family has not been given a heads up on his medication, doe not find the diagnosis serious enough for a dog.

Tick is correct, he should not be feeding anything other than the prescription diet. The idea is to give the digestive tract a rest by feeding a bland diet while the medication is also doing its job. A 17 week old puppy should have a steady diet of quality puppy food. Fatty foods such as hot dogs can also subject him to developing pancreatitis, not much fun for the owner or the dog.
