Disposal hums, water drains very slowly
Double sink.. One side works fine. The garbage disposal hums and the water drains but extremely slowly. I have taken the pipes off the one side of the sink and cleaned the trap. I don't know how to take the pipe off the disposal side. This pipe (disposal) runs completely horizontially into the main pipe at the other sink. HELP !

If you drop debris into the disposal do you hear it being chewed up? The drain pipe of the disposal is attached with one screw immediately above the pipe, the drain then tips of the disposal. It should not go directly horizontal, rather down.

As a rule when the motor groans or hums , it means something is lodged between the table and the housing wall. Does it hummmm,(run) or is it bound up? If it's bound up then the table should be frozen. If it's humming and the table isn't spinning then the rod that ties the table to the motor is sheared or the nut holding the table is loose. To check to see if the motor is turning, turn the unit on and put your finger lightly on the female hex fitting located in thr exact center of the bottom of the housing, you should feel it spin. Hope this helps and thank you for rating my reply. TOM
