I have a situation where the tile is higher than the carpet. I have purchased a metal transition strip, but I can't seem to find any nails that are tough enough to pound into the concrete below without bending and curling. Is there a particular nail to purchase or do I have to drill out a hole and install wooden dowels to nail it to? The workers at the local home improvement stores don't seem to know the answer. Please advise.

Masonary nails are what you need... they come in various lengths. Don't buy ones that are too long.

THey sell them , I don't know why they won't know about them... but a better solution is to drill a hole with a hammer drill and use plastic anchors with screws... you will at some point want to take them out when the tiles need replaced or the carpet does.

I agree with smoothy. Use plastic anchors. They come in various sizes. Get the smallest u can but with screw head large enough to hold strip down.
