Ask Me Help Desk - Is it tooth break?

I was taking lunch today, when I felt a sort of crack within my tooth which is just adjacent to canine teeth and is I think called mole, in below teeth. It was loaves with prepared pulse that I was eating my food. I think some part of the tooth has been broken, and when I take my tongue, I feel bluntness and sort of some sharpnes. What should I do? Do such tooth-breaks happen, as I was chewing food slowly and was not even in a hurry?

WHat do you do? YOu go to a dentist... and depending on what, and how... they determine what if anything can be done. Such as can it be fixed or does it have to be pulled.

It is not like going to a medico or dentist as it is just a very little tooth break or sort of it. It is nothing like needing to be fixed or pulled. Not at all. I am in my early thirties and you... no dear. Still, thankful for the reply and I appreciate that you have more reputation score as compared to your posts. It is unusual, but as you are helping us fellows it is a big achievement, which you deserve and you will surely keep getting more and more. Please peep and reflect further on my problem. Kahani honey, it doesn't matter how big or how small the possible break is, you still need to see a dentist. If it is a small break there is a potential for it to get bigger and bigger and finally ending up losing the tooth. It's always wise to have a dentist check it out.

Any break in the Tooth enamal is going to result in decay over time... if it developes into an abcess, they can easily become life threatening, and that's not considering discomfort.

I'm not implying they have to do it right this minute... but depending on where the damage is, a filling or cap MIGHT fix it... or if its cracked below the gumline, then all of the things I mentioned become very possible if its not removed. But nobody can even guess until its looked at... and doing nothing is the worst thing you can do.

Only a few years ago there was a case of a fairly young kid dying as the result of the mother being too cheap to take her son to a dentist in my area...

I myself am one of many people that HAVE to take massive doseages of antibiotics before I can even have routine cleaning, because of a common heart defect that can become life threatening if bacterial common in the mouth get into my bloodstream during the cleaning and infect a heart valve (Mitral Valve prolapse). Even people without this problem die from cardiac failure caused by poor dental hygene, rotting teeth or gum disease.

Issues with teeth go far beyond how they make you look and chewing your food... they do effect your health and in cases of long term neglect, have the potiential to kill you.

And it can all start with something as simple as a chipped tooth not being taken care of.

Its always easier and cheaper to take care of a problem at the beginning... than later when it gets worse.
