    Track Light Plug Adapter
I just purchased a Hampton Bay Track Light Kit that I'd like to attach to a grounded three wire plug. Unfortunately the kit only came with hardware that appears to be made for hard wiring and mounting onto a standard box.

Is there an adapter kit or accessory that has a different style floating live-end connector that will terminate into a standard plug connection?

All electrical connections must be made inside of a box, and be accessible. The track should be made to connect to a box, or the end of it provide room for connections and a cover. If need be, connect a box to the end of the track. The sealed, outdoor ones may look nicer. Install a wire clamp in a hole in the box or track. Run a 3 conductor flexible cord, SP3, SJT, etc. with a plug on the other end through the clamp and tighten it down. Connect the wires, the green in the cord to the ground terminal.

I recently installed a Hampton Bay track light system and need an adapter that locks into the overhead track and allows me to plug in a 110v device. Any clues or leads would be helpful. I know Halo has this type of adaptor - it should be pretty common but possibly not with Hampton Bay - I hope not.

    Thanks,

It is possible the Halo device might for the Hampton bay track. Otherwise, you may have to set a box at one end and put in an outlet. The circuit may not have too much extra capacity. As for a box, I don't know why I suggested the outdoor box in my last answer instead of one of the surface mount ones.

Maybe somebody can direct you to the right Hampton bay product.

Thanks for the reply. I planned on trying Halo's adapter although I am doubtful it will work. The various track lighting companies seem to go out of their way to make sure no two systems are interchangeable.
