Hi, I am 26 years old female. I have a 3 year old daughter. I am not officially married with my her father who is my ex-boyfriend. And he refuses to help me with the child. Is there any way I can get help from him. I want him to look after my daughter couple days a week. But he doesn't want it. What should I do? Well in order to get him for chil support he must be on the birt certificate and sign by him. If it is you can get him for child suppot but there's no way to force him to see the child it's up to him. Once he's paying for child support he don't have to see her. It's up to him

But he's not on the birth certificate. My daughter also has a foreign birth certificate with his name on it.

The foregin birth certificate is more the n enough that's proof right there.

This is NOT totally accurate. A parent can file for child support from the other parent without being on the birth certificate. The court will order a paternity test to to determine legal paternity. They may or may not order the birth certificate amended after that.

You CAN make him provide you with financial support. To do so, you will need to go to your local Family Court and petition for a support order. (note: ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.) His name does not have to be on a birth certificate and just having his name on a birth certificate may not be enough.

As noted above. He has to either acknowledge paternity or have paternity recognized by a court of law.

The court will then issue a support order based on his income and local laws.

But, other than financial support, you cannot force him to be a father. You can't force him to visit his child or to look after her. Nor would I trust a reluctant father to look after my child.

So my advice is to file for support immediately. Preferably by getting an attorney.
