Replaced seats, stem assembly, and the spout and still leaking from back of spout
We replaced the seats, stem assembly, and spout and our tub is still leaking from back of spout. It only leaks when the handles are turned on. It leaks with both the hot and cold, when just the hot is on, and when just the cold is on. If everything is shut off, it stops. What could be the problem now?

My bet's on the slip on spout. This happens all the time. The installer fails to sand off the burr on the end of the copper stub out. When he slips on the spout the "O" ring catches on the burr and gets pulled out of position. Hence, the leak out the rear. The solution would be to remove the spout and reposition the "O" rings. Sand off the burr on the stub out, moisten the stub out and reinstall the spout. Note, For a professional looking job Caulk the spout and tile with Dap White Tub and Tile Caulk. Good luck, Tom
