Can I be pregnant and still have a period?
My period was 5 days late. It started as spotting, the next day it was heavy enough to fill a pads and tampons, now today its barely here. This isn't normal for me. My periods are always a little heavy the first 2 days normal the next 3 and lighter and the next two days are lighter. Could I be pregnant .

Yes, you can have a period when you are pregnant, especially in the early months.

No you can not have a actual period when pregnant.. I have heard that from many doctors. But you can have spotting or even something that you think might be a period but its not called that. A lot of women do bleed in the first trimester on and off and some even do throughout the whole pregnancy. If you are having red blood or ne cramping or pain you should call your doctor if your expect pregnancy. Hoestly though I would call the doctor either way and make an appt to get checked just in case you are pregnant. I hope everything goes how you want it and I hope this helps:)

I'm sorry, of course Firemanwife61 is technically correct. Your "period" stops when you are pregnant. I meant that you can have some bleeding when you are pregnant, especially in the early months. I apologize for the wording I used. It was misleading.

grammadidi: srry if I sounded like I was just downing your answer... lol I was pretty sure you knew that you couldn't actually have a "period" but like you said you just worded it wrong so I though I would answer and make sure they knew what you meant. I love answering questions so I do get very technical sometimes but like I said you were correct yourself but unfornately they don't call it a period although I don't see the difference, I mean blood is blood.. right?lol

To Firemanwife61... please don't apologize! You were totally correct and just because you or I may have understood my answer I think it was important for me not to be misleading because someone else may not have understood. People come here to get good information and you gave it. I didn't feel you were downing my answer at all. It was a good catch! :)
