I got a few questions about the new tablet I got for xmas. I have never had a phone or anything that runs Android before so my questions are basic.

1) Could someone explain the whole apps thing? Do I need apps to run everything?
2) I am running Android 2.3 and it will not see a PDF file. Do I need a app for this? Is there a format that I can use that it sees without an app? If there is anything else anyone can tell a Android rookie it would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by "everything"

I mean it will call people, text people, do photos, emails and the such.

Beyond that, yes you will need a app for almost anything other than the things a regular cell phone will do.

There are tons of free apps and thousands of apps you can buy.
