    STD Test for Married Women
My wife came home from a vacation without me and complained of urinary tract or bladder infection. She went to a clinic that performed several tests including an STD test. She did not tell me about this test. Would this test be given unless it was believed that one of the married partners may have had sex outside of the marriage?

Yes, it is not uncommon to give the battery of tests. Some STDs remain dormant for years.

I don't understand why she didn't tell you.

Are you concerned because you think she was unfaithful?

I'm also concerned you both don't have forms signed that give each other access to your records and info... me and my wife do... neither of us have anything to hide from the other. Under HIPAA laws that's they only way they could legally tell the other spouse.

We do it because sometimes one of us is busy and we need info. And the other will get it for them.

But you wouldn't be concerned if your spouse had STD testing. Nor would I. We also have signed HIPAA consents.

Would the lack of consent concern me? Possibly. Would I think he was cheating? No.

I think this question is the tip of the iceberg.

Concerned yes for the same reasons, particularly given the timing... but there are a few STDs you could get from non-sexual contact. So its not impossible nothing happened... My wife always tells me about these things at length before she goes. Not after the fact.
