The book was actually comprised of a series of novellas put together, as they were designed to be. They all take place in the same small town, which the author even had a map of in the back of the book, and a website that you could go to and "check-up" on different character's and things like that.
One story in particular is about a little girls doll and a woman who is pregnant. The doll is haunted I believe and the woman ends up dying because of it. If I remember right, she first has a bookcase fall on her and loses the baby, because the doll was on the top of it and she was trying to get to it. Then she fell off a roof trying to get it from were it was sitting on the roof.
All the stories link together, and several I believe have the doll in it.
I believe it was 'Black' something in the title, but have had no luck with any searches.
This was a semi-old book, maybe mid 90's or before. I found it in the general fiction section of my library about 5 or 6 years ago.

Sounds like a series of Hitchcock stories I read in high school. Not sure though.
