    Probation Questions
I am trying to relocate to VA for a better job opportunity. However, I am currently on 24 months porbation for Theft By Deception and receiving stolen property. I have been making payments and my fines and community service is all up to date. I currently reside in PA. Does anyone know if this is a possibility for me to make this move and what exactly I would need to do to make this happen? I have put in a call to both my lawyer and my PO however, neither one has gotten back to me and I am very anxious to find out what my options are! Thanks!

What you should do is to go the court that rendered your probation order and inform the clerk of court thereof of your possible change of address so that you could be properly guided as to whom you are to report to while in your recent address in order to comply with your probation requirements. If you do not do this, you can be in hot water and your probation will be deemed violated. Eventually, you will be ordered to serve your sentence in jail.

You can't just "inform the clerk" that you will be changing your address. Doesn't work that way. You MUST get prior written permission to even leave the state from the PO. Also, read the "Sticky" note that excon posted at the top of the Criminal Law Board to learn how to properly get your probation transferred.
