So my boyfriend and I have been together 6 years and have a 5 year old daughter together. We were engaged for a year and decided to put the marriage and engagement on hold because of personal family problems. But, its now 2 years later and he still hasn't proposed again. We have never stopped living together and are in the process of buying a house together now; and I have told him that I don't want to buy a house together if we are not going to get married, but, he just laughs about it and says we will. Yet another holiday has passed and still nothing! I don't know what to do now, if he doesn't want to get married, then why won't he just say that? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If he says he's not interested in marriage, your wrath will descend on him and you will run into another room crying hysterically.

Why would he want to get married? He has it all now.

Ya know how they say "actions speak louder than words"? He's already told you how he feels.

Since forcing someone into marriage is always a terrible idea, your options are clear: 1) accept the probability that you may never marry this man and be okay with it, or 2) find someone else to marry.

A old county saying,"why buy the cow when you get all the milk free"

So you sit down, and talk, tell him you want to set a date for the wedding before you get up from the table, Explain there will be no house bought till there is a wedding first.
Stick to it.

Have you tried asking him to marry you? Mind you I'm not saying ask him why he hasn't asked you. I'm saying actually getting down on one knee, and saying the words "Will you marry me?"
