Kitchenaid superba broken red collar on water supply line
Bought a used (about 5 years old) Kitchenaid Superba side by side fridge and needed to take the doors off to get in the house. When taking the left door off (freezer side) the directions said to push a red collar toward water supply tubing and then remove. When doing this my contractor broke the red collar and I don't see where I can buy one and/or if I really need this piece. Just a little piece of plastic. He's coming back Friday to hook it up (waiting on granite and stuff) so would like to know if I can not use it...

Just remove the cover to rear part of door (facing freezer) and replace water line. Then when replacing make sure to dry thoroughly and seal with GE Silicone caulk on all surfaces sealing to steel door (If you don't then air leak will be disastrous.). Many of these refrigerators were not sealed properly which resulted in a class action lawsuit. Make sure and seal ALL surfaces that contact door so NO AIR can get inside of door. Only GE Silicone will work, which is ironic since GE was the one sued over this problem for not using their own product. Be careful and all will be well. Just remember that air is sucked in by cold and it only takes a pin hole.
