Yes... it has to be there and be good or NO lights at all.

A bad ignition switch will also cause the dash lights to not go on. It's best, however, to begin troubleshooting by testing all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.

All fuses are good, and at the correct amp. I have all the other lights parking, tail, and license plate light. The dimmer switch is gone and I have no dash lighst. It was my assumption that is why the dash lights do not work.

Oh... another thing don't think about trying to bypass it on a Honda.. all you will do is blow fuses immediately... pick one up at a junkyard... the dealer or eBay. But you need to have one plugged in.
