I'm reading in England and Wales it's 16 UNLESS a Judge has ordered visitation, 16 being "adulthood."

    Thank you Judy,
He is 7 - and has decided out of the blue and his mother saids that's his decision and she won't force him, no court order in place just been between the parents?

The go to court and get visitation ordered. As long as there is no court order you can't compel the mother to allow visitation.

So unless we go through the court there is nothing we can do but wait?
There is no reason for this to have happened?

Without a court order the custodial parent is in command.

    Thank you.
It's important - his father misses him dearly.
