I got my green card on October 1997 and left the USA on March 1998.Since that time I've lived outside USA. My green card has expired October 2007. Is there any chance to get back my immigration status and if "yes" what is the procedure to do that ?
I now live in Europe !

There are lots of issues here.
By staying abroad you abandoned your status long before the official expiration date.
Did you ever apply for a re-entry permit? Did you file tax returns?

I have never applied for re-entry permit and also never filed tax return. When I leaved the country from O'Hare airport I haven't been even registred by immigration officers for leaving the country ( no passport control checking, no stamp in the passport... nothing).
I know my case is 100% abondonig the permanent recidence (by the ruls)... Just I hope to find some way to get it back!!
