How far from a well can a pump be located?
I have a roughly 50 foot deep well and I noticed the pump house is about 12 feet from where the actual well is, so Id love to be able to put that shed elsewhere but need to know how far away from the well can the pump be located?

How far do you wish to move it? The suction line from the well is the same as if you had a deeper well and the suction line needed to reach the bottom. Just install a check valve on the suction line next to the pump. Good luck. Tom

A lot depends on the well and what kind of pump you have. My well is 200 ft deep and the well house is 75 ft from the house. Works great.

It would be 60 feet from the well but only like 30 from the house, it's a craftsman 1hp pump,I wouldn't mind buying a new pump if that would make this happen. Thanks for all the help guys!

Also I'm in Florida so I don't think the well could be that deep considering the whole state isn't very thick lol, but Ive tried contacting the gov and no one has a record of how deep my well is.

In my opinion, a one horse pump will be more then able to pump the 90 feet from well head to your house. I live in Sarasota on the coast and my well is 40 feet down. Good luck, Tom
