    Vomiting six year old child
Would a stomach bug cause a child to vomit one night,be perfectly fine the next day and then have a repeat performance the next night?

Intermittent vomitting doesn't sake sense. I have seen this happen as a plea for attention, or to gets out of doing something they don't want to do. On the other hand, have you checked for fever? If you are concerned, I would suggests a trip to the pediatrician.

I've had stomach viruses that came and went because I ate food again too soon, according to my doctor at the time. He said the virus fed on the food and that I had to take clear liquids only, which worked.

No. Absolutely not. There is something wrong with your child that you should advise a doctor about. Stomach bugs typically last for a day or two with vomiting. Go to your pediatrician and see what he/she advises.
