I live in Ohio, I'm 16 years old and my dad and brother (who I live with) are very mentally and physically abusive. I've tried asking if I can move out, they tell me I'm an idiot and its not going to happen. CPS has been involved before and last week I called again, but they did not do anything. I even called the police and he told me to go to school. My dad calls me a whore and my brother calls me a fat *** all the time. I'm too the point I just don't eat because I can't stand them picking on me. Recently my brother tackled me and tried to choke me but his girlfriend walked in and got him off me, and then my dad started hitting me in the head with a plastic bowl. What is the legal way for me to get out of this house when they won't let me move out? Should I get a restraining order or try to get emancipated? What will a restraining order do? Please help!
PS; I do have a job and already take care of myself! I'm not some spoiled little brat that didn't get what she wants so she wants to move out, this is serious

Um... can you afford to pay for your own rent... utilities, food... etc?

Emancipation means you are on your own... THEY won't be paying for you to do it... YOU have to prove you are able without help.

If CPS and the Police both says there isn't a problem... then its time you look at your own actions... you won't be the first 16 year old that thinks they have it all figured out and everyone else is wrong and they are the only ones that are right.

Usually the reality of having to REALLY support yourself and decide between eating or bus fare to get to work some days, because if you don't pay your utilities they get turned off, don't pay the rent you get thrown out.

In two years you will be an adult... so suck it up and stop being so combative, and show some maturity.

Life will be far harsher than I was... you will have to do a LOT of things you don't like until the day you die... living at home as a teenager is as easy as its EVER going to be.

I can take care of myself, actually. I work 35 hours a week and am being promoted to supervisor soon. Ive had my job for less than a year but Ive made my way through a lot. Until you go through what I have don't tell me I can't handle myself.

So file to be emancipated, hire an attorney, show the court you have enough money saved up to rent an apartment, and show them you have enough money to live on your own and pay all of your own bills.

If you can't or don't have enough proof to get CPS involved, you don't have enough proof to get a restraining order.

But then if you are hit in the head, there should be marks, call the police and keep calling the police when it happens.
Report the abuse to your teachers who are obligated to report it to social services.

It sounds like social services and the police don't believe it is happening.
