I have a zoeller grinder pump, but it clogs with kitchen grease, no matter how careful we are. Is there a chemical I can put down to break up the grease? Or is there something that can stir up the water like a mixer to get the grease to the bottom and flush it out?

If this is a commercial building, don't you need a grease trap? If this is your house, where is the grease coming from. The pit is probably cold and the grease hardens.

If this is a residential application then you should be able to control the grease going down the drain.

If this is a commercial setup, then a grease trap is the first line of defense, for sure. A second line of defense is a lift-station grease dissolver block such as can be found at:

Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain Cleaning Services

This dissolver block will require the pit to be opened on occasion, but it should help reduce the number of times the grinder clogs up... ;)

They also make liquid grease dissolvers, but they don't work nearly as well as the block shown/listed.

Finally, you will need to install new seals at the grinder lid, so either pick up a set at a local plumb ing supply store or you can make your own, OK?
