Hook up DVD/VCR to HDPVR cable
How do I hookup a dvd/vcr combo to an hdpvr box and HD TV?

Depends on the DVD/VCR combo and the HDTV and the HD PVR.

If you have makes and models, I can give you the best method to connect everything together.

    Otherwise some rules of thumb:

    - Outputs to inputs.
    - Video connections in order from good to best (use only one) RF/coaxial, composite (yellow RCA), S-Video, component (red, green, blue RCA), DVI or HDMI.
    - Audio connections in order from good to best (use only one, with the exception of integrating a surround sound and some other special circumstances): composite audio (white, red RCA), digital coax (orange or black RCA), fiber optic (when turned on, looks like a glowing red hole, usually a hinged flap covering the hole), HDMI.

Note about HDMI: Only one cable is necessary and for 99% of the devices that use HDMI, the signal will carry both the highest quality picture and audio signals.

Well, that's some of the information. What about your PVR? And I forgot to ask if you wanted to record with the VCR portion of your combo unit.

The PVR is Shaw Motorola 500GB Dual Tuner HD PVR Receiver (DCX3400). I will probably only use the DVD/VCR combo to watch movies and not record.

HDMI out from your DCX3400 to your TV.
Component video (red, green, blue RCA) out from your DVD/VCR in to your TV along with composite audio (white, red RCA) for watching DVDs.

S-Video out to the TV with composite audio for watching VHS.
