I have an 85 evo 1340 turns over but won't start it backfire through the exhaust

Did this happen on its own or after tune up, timing adjustment?

Telling a Harly person to go to an Auto Parts Store for help is a little funny.

I have a 2005 sportster, replaced tickle charge harness, and had problem starting , took care of that but last couple times had it out speed and tack and odometer went blank could not tell if I lost power eng. Light came on for like 3 sec.
