Hello friends this is Mona from delhi. I am from punjabi family and we have our own house. My father is businessman. My boyfriend is garhwali. He is working with IT company and they are staying in govt. Flat. Prior to this my mum used to talk to his mother as please buy small own house for our children's as will make them marry as he didn't had house previously, now he bought his own house in ghaziabad. His parents are interested for marriage in sep.-oct. 12 but now my parents think that if they agree for this marriage, they will lose all their prestige in society and among our relatives. One day my mum called his mother and she insulted her on fone. My father called my boyfriend and used bad language. His family is still supporting me and saying please try to convince your parents because without them they will not make us marry. My family has stopped talking to me and even they don't ask for food once I reached home after office. Please suggest what should I do.

You are an adult now. You are working, your boyfriend is working, he has a house. You are being forced by your parents to choose between your love for them and your love for your boyfriend. Your parents care about prestige and background, which is sad. I would marry him without their blessing. Later they may be sorry, and you can forgive them for being bound by tradition. You are not dishonoring them by making this choice (if you make it). Every child needs to make their own choices when they reach adulthood.

They are looking rich family as consulted by other relatives so I think they have ego but again they have started insulting my boyfriends family that's really sad and again they are interested for our marriage too but still saying to convince them.
