Hi, Decided to install an outside tap & bought a seft tapping "tap" to connect the hose to. Instead of boring a hole in the cold water pipe, the pipe was slightly pierced & buckled, then the thread went on the tap & water spewed out.. turned off at the main stopcock... (which was hard work!. almost seized).. cut the section of damaged pipe out & inserted a "washing machine" valve instead... job done... now when the kitchen cold water tap gets turned on.. (connected to main water supply of course), the pipes nearbly hiss, & the water gushes out then dies a little. It also happens to the cold water tap upstairs which of course in not connected directly to the main supply. Seems both main & tank fed taps are affected.. HELP! (please)

Explain what dies are. Do you mean threads? How did you connect the valve to the source? Did you use one of those self piecing thingys? I'm sorry but I'm having a problem getting a handle on your complaint. Can you help me out and rephrase it? Thanks, Tom

Ah I'm from the Uk... Washing machine... what you stick your clothes in :)...

Don't think I put dies anywhere..

I used a self piercing thing at first.. it buckled the pipe & put a small hole in... I had to cut out that piece of pipe. I bridged the gap with a another type of `insert` tap... (with olive ring couplings) I don't think this would make any difference as this pipe while being connected to the main supply ends only at the washing machine. I'm assuming air has got in.. else the main stopcock (after being disturbed) is somehow disrupting the supply.. age.. debri.. dunno...

Drained off cold water taps... both main feed & bathroom... drained from area of main stopcock.. lowest point I assume... (didn't drain off hot water as this is kind of separate?)... Funny thing is after turning off stopcock.. I expected upstairs water to drain off a bit.. (from tank?) .but it stopped in it's tracks when turning taps on. Anyway.. tnx for reply.

Oh I did mention dies... I meant flow reduces...
