    Excel change number automatically?
I have a column with numbers. I need to multiply the same numbers with 3 and I don't want to make a new column - it must happen in the same one. Is there any function for that?

Can you give a little more info? Do you want to multiply all the numbers in the column or just some of them? You can write a formula for the cell you want the total to apper in. For instance, you can write a formula into a cell like =B8*B12 and that cell will equal the product of the new cell. Please let me know if this covers what you are trying to do.

    1) In an empty cell, put in your multiplier, in this case the number 3
    2) Now copy that cell
    3) Highlight all the numbers in your original column all at once
    4) Now select Edit > Paste Special > Multiply > OK

Sorry, I hadn't seen what JB had written. Now I tried it. THAT'S GREAT! I would never make it without you! Thanks a lot!

    Best wishes,
    M.

If you've never been in the Paste Special menu before, play around in there, that tool changed my "life" as far as Excel goes. Very powerful conversions at your disposal in there.
