    Jonnie: I am not sure I understand your question. Are you asking how you can tell if a molecule is polar or not? Look at the electronegativities of the bonded atoms and at the shape of the molecule and try to figure out if the centers of + charge and - charge overlap or not. If they overlap, the molecule is nonpolar. If they are separated, it is polar.
