I have read some of the questions and answers concerning bad faucet smells. I kind of have the same problem, but my problem is that I get a strong sewer smell when I run the water in the sink. It does not matter if it is the hot or cold. It is worse when we do laundry. It seems like the problem started when we had our sprinkler system blown out this past fall. This is a new house - one year old and have only had this problem for about two months. Any suggestions as to what is causing it and what we can do to remedy it?

Your sprinkler system should be isolated from the house by either a check valve or a backflow prventer.
Have you removed the aerator from the spout and tried the water? Does it still smell? It sounds like your faucet has picked up some nasty bacteria. If The smell persists shut the water off to the valve and open it up. REmove the cartridge and soak it in bleach for a hour or so. Put a cork in the spout and fill the open valve with bleach. After a hour reassemble and test. Smell better now? Let me know, Tom

These, if you have them will be found at the junction where the sprinkler system takes off from the main.

The spout is the part of any faucet where the water comes out and the aerator is the little thingy that fits on 5the end of the spout. Anything else just click back and ask. Cheers, Tom
