Jack Russell's are smart dogs, perhaps a little headstrong.
No, he's not too old to learn "things." Of course, first you have to build a bond with him, a relationship, and then he'll want to please you.
Are you asking about housebreaking? Is he housebroken at all?
I am guessing he's a rescue of some type and not from a breeder? Good for you!
I'd be SO excited, waiting to have him come and live with me.
Now, before you get him, please do your homework for how to care for him and teach him things. Do you live near a library? There are lots of dog care and dog training books there (636.7), or be sure to ask us here!
- And I will add to my colleague WG that JR are VERY active dogs. He/she will need LOTS of exercise, lots of things to keep him/her interested and focused. He/she will keep you on your toes and, yes, the library is a GREAT starting place.
